FAQ

Cascade FC U9/U10 Developmental

Rationale: There is a growing need to provide an introductory program for players in SnVYSA (and potential players outside SnVYSA) who would like to play more competitive soccer than the recreational program provides, but who do not want to commit the time or funds to a 10-12 month program.

Tryouts: Tryouts for Cascade FC U9 and U10 Developmental will be held each year at a time and location to be determined. Tryouts are expected to occur between mid-March and mid-May in conjunction with regular Cascade FC tryouts.

Playing Season(s): Cascade FC U9 and U10 teams will play under US Club soccer (Puget Sound Premier League). Practices can begin shortly after tryouts if players are available and if field space is available, but no later than July 15th with fall league beginning in September and running into November. (The length of a season is dependent on the league in which a team participates.) There will also be an option to play a spring developmental league running approx mid-March to mid-May.

Expectation(s): Cascade FC Developmental aims to serve those players who want to participate in soccer in an environment more competitive than our recreational program, but who, for whatever reason, are unable or unwilling to participate in a more full-time, year round program. This program is designed to allow for other activities (basketball, baseball, etc.). However, the expectation is that soccer will be put first during the summer preseason and fall league season. The preseason expectation is that the team would participate in one to three summer tournaments to prepare for the fall season. The length of the fall season is expected to be 9 weeks long.

Team Formation: Our target for the 2011/2012 season is to form one team (or more) at each age and gender as follows:

U9 development - maximum roster size will be 12. Players will play 8v8.

U10 developmental - maximum roster size will be 14. Players will play 9v9.

Coaching:

1) Qualifications: Coaches must be risk management cleared and in good standing with WSYSA and US Club in order to apply for a position with Cascade FC U9 and U10 Developmental.

2) Licensing: Coaches wishing to coach for Cascade FC Developmental will need to have (or agree to secure prior to the start of the fall league season) a State E license for the first season they are involved in the program. The second season will require that they attend and secure a State D license. Coaches will be encouraged to continue their coaching education by all means available and accessible to them. Cascade FC U10 Developmental coaches will be reimbursed by SnVYSA for the cost of the E licensing clinic upon presentation of the license and proof of payment to the Cascade FC Administrator.

3) Expense Reimbursement: Cascade FC Developmental coaches will receive a stipend in correlation to their coaching license held and be entitled to be reimbursed by their team for all legitimate expenses related to coaching the team. These include, but may not be limited to, the following: mileage to/from tournaments and season matches, hotel accommodation if required to spend the night for tournaments or regular season matches, meals associated with travel requiring overnight stay, team coaching apparel (coach polo, short, sweatshirt and/or warm-up).

4) Contract: Cascade FC U10 Developmental coaches will be required to sign a Coaching Contract and adhere to the terms and conditions therein.
